Who am I? An art educator. And an art educator is a person who strives to remain human, and in constant evolution, and makes contemplation and meditation her/his own way of living.
Curious and passionate about the human soul, in all its different aspects and evolutionary capacity, I love art, artists, gardeners, and anyone who unleashes their creativity to share with others. I could spend hours listening to their stories and feelings, but also to the stories and feelings of those who struggle to express their creativity, despite their desire to discover their own talents and potential.
Thanks to my extensive studies, research, and experience in the fields of litterature, psychology, pedagogy, and lifelong learning, as well as in the holistic world, I have had the opportunity to explore the human soul through art and literature. This has allowed me to develop a paideic project in museums for two different entities already many years ago:
- Tailored kids’ Educational tours for children and their parents; and
- Beyond boundaries: seeing aimed at students but also at adults, accordingly.
Leaving aside the good museum “didactics,” – and its 19th-century flavor -, my project aimed to prioritize human relationships and the connection with oneself. This is why I preferred and prefer to talk about education, drawing on lifelong learning with its ancient Greek flavor. And to lifelong education, I integrated the techniques used by contemporary art therapy, drama therapy, and Theater of the Oppressed, believing them useful for freeing anyone who is ready and willing (including school-age children) from their internal blocks, caused by excessive judgment and performance syndrome.
You can read about the project in my book of which I leave you the link: https://www.periegeta.com/libro-intorno-all-educazione-all-arte-2/
As a cultural guide in Roman and Vatican museums, and a passionate about meeting other human realities and ways of thinking, I have also worked for years as a personal guide for Anglo-Saxon and Francophone families.
I also worked, together with my colleague Cristina Bonasera Proietti, as a cultural contact person and guide in Rome and its environs for numerous companies and multinationals including Pfizer, Alitalia, Fimcantieri, Goodyear, and many others.
In 2011, I signed a contract with the Governorate of the Vatican city and the Vatican Gardens to produce a project revisiting the Vatican Gardens, and following that research, in 2017, I published the text book on the Vatican gardens, of which I leave you link: https://www.periegeta.com/libro-anima-persa-anima-ritrovata-2/
In more recent years, my love towards art and the human soul has led me, to curate exhibitions of contemporary artists with whom I resonate, and about whom you can find some of my articles on my blog https://www.periegeta.com/il-blog-di-anna-bruno/.
Furthermore, passion, creativity, and my long experience in the world of humanistic and spiritual culture have led me to a profound cross-disciplinary understanding—all essential ingredients both in my cultural and educational events, seminars, workshops, and mini-workshops on art education, both online and in person—which you can read about in the activities section on the home page—and in my willingness to accompany artists in exhibiting their works.
Regarding my background: after graduating from high school, I graduated from the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori (Higher School for Interpreters and Translators) in Florence. I then continued my studies at IULM, the University Institute of Languages and Communication in Milan, where I graduated in 1998 with a thesis defended in the Department of Art History entitled “George W. Breck: An Artist of the American Renaissance.” This thesis is now in the process of being published.
Over 32 years of working in museums, I have continued to explore my interests, taking courses in screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, art therapy, drama therapy, and Theater of the Oppressed. I have met with psychologists and pedagogues, honing my introspective, connective, and observational skills over time, as well as listening deeply to my inner self, my intuition, and therefore to others.
